Registering a business in Rwanda is generally hassle-free for (foreign) entrepreneurs, with fast registration being a notable advantage, often taking less than 24 hours. Rwanda distinguishes itself with its ease of registration and a business-friendly environment, setting it apart from many other African countries and earning high rankings on ‘Ease of doing business’ lists. However, while the process of registering a business is straightforward, investors may encounter challenges in finding accurate information on how to re-register a business. In Rwanda, three key institutions play a crucial role in the registration and de-registration processes: the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), the Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), and the Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB).

The report ‘’How to Open and Close a Business in Rwanda’’ contains information for (Dutch) investors on how to register and de-register a company in Rwanda. It shed light on how  to access information, procedures, and the policies of the three institutions involved in the registration and de-registration of a company in Rwanda.

Please note that certain numbers and information might become outdated at one point. We, therefore, encourage all foreign investors to, in addition to this report, consult with the RDB, business networks or TRAIDE Rwanda about new developments and potential changes. For any comments or questions on this report, please get in touch via: [email protected].
