Rwanda, known for its business-friendly environment, holds the distinction of being the second easiest country for doing business in Africa. The government’s strategic incentives to investors has transformed it into a favorable haven for investors, drawing the attention of numerous foreign investors. Over the years, Dutch investments in Rwanda have steadily increased in recent years. In terms of both invested capital and the number of investments and there is a growing need for expert support for Dutch companies. To support this thriving partnership, the TRAIDE Rwanda program was established to help Dutch companies find the expert support needed.

The untapped capacity of local consultants

TRAIDE Rwanda embarked on a mission to discover the wealth of expertise they could provide to Dutch investors seeking success in a foreign land. Between May and October 2019, interviews were conducted with these local consultants, exploring their experiences and skills to gauge their suitability for supporting Dutch business activities in Rwanda.

The finding revealed variations in experience, focus areas, sectors, clients, and services offered. Following a meticulous analysis of the interviews, certain consultants showed greater potential to support foreign investors in Rwanda. While each consultant had a specialized field or activity, collectively, they represented a spectrum of expertise beneficial for diverse purposes.

The consultants were classified into three main groups:

  • Business Development and Strategy Consultants:
  • Research Consultants
  • Accountants and Financial Consultants:

Dive into the details of the interviews to learn more about the type of clients, and the areas of focus of those consultants, and be sure to download the report.
